Rosy little black number.
Just like a sleek pair of heels, a comfy pair of sweats, or that favourite worn out t-shirt, every woman needs a little black dress in her closet. It's a staple.
I happen to own a few... simply because I sew and I can make them as soon as I get inspired. And this little number happens to be one of my vintage (ie: it's old!!!) pieces, but it's definitely a favourite.
I adore this dress for many reasons; the fabric is stretchy and super comfortable to wear. No need to squeeze into a stiff tube. Ever! It hugs the body perfectly without being fussy. It's always comfortable no matter how many courses the fancy dinner gala serves, how wild I get on that dance floor, or whether I have to run a marathon chasing and/or wrestling my kids.
My favourite feature about this dress though, is the back; the "rose" design across the shoulders and upper back is a very flattering and interesting detail. I love that it's different. Black beading throughout is a nice accent, meanwhile the low back cut out gives a flirty vibe.
I sewed this dress about nine years ago now and out of all my "little black" options, it still is and always has been the finest option. It's always in style, always on trend, and never ceases to get compliments.
