Unicorn headband.
When my little A asked that Santa bring her a "cat ears" headband for Christmas, he heard her loud and clear! While he was at it, he decided it would be a cute idea to bring a unicorn head band too!
This headband was pretty quick and easy to make. I lucked out when I found some ribbon-wrapped, wire headbands with the ears already attached at my local dollar store. That find made this project super easy because not having to make/attach the ears and wrap the whole thing in ribbon, half my work was already done! I don't usually like to cut corners because that's often reflected in the quality of the product, but in this case, seeing how Christmas was fast approaching with a million things still to accomplish, this was one shortcut I was happy to take!
So, starting off with the wire headband, all I did was cover the ears with felt and a pretty accent fabric, made and attached the alicorn (the horn), and finished off by adding decorative felt flowers.
The alicorn is made of a really pretty shimmery fabric that changes colours from cream, to light pink, to gold in the light. I added the same fabric to the white felt on the ears.
Finally, I made a couple of larger cream flowers, a couple of coral/pink roses, and one white rose out of felt and arranged those at the base of the horn. To break up the pink tones I added a few small leaves in a soft mint colour.
What a great way to jazz up a plain dollar store find! It makes a super cute accessory for any little girl!
